There is wide use of angle and motion sensors in automotive applications. High reliability is essential particularly in steering and throttle applications. Other than this the standards for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in automotive applications are becoming increasingly stringent. New generation diesel and gasoline engines which are low carbon emission require better sensor performance in resolution and low power operation. Technology is moving towards ‘Measurement on Demand’ to reduce power consumption in control electronics used in automotive. Design Engineers along with component engineers are looking for components that draw ultra-low stand-by currents for automotives. It is making more and more adoption of contactless sensors and is eliminating use of contacting sensors.
